Purpose: |
The IIS, in supporting the vision of Michigan Tech to prepare students to create the future, will be a catalyst, serve as a resource, and build bridges that contribute to the creation of new knowledge and the development of outstanding programs at the intersection of existing and emerging disciplines within the university community. |

| Mission: | The Institute for Interdisciplinary Studies (IIS) will create, grow, and nurture interdisciplinary educational programs, research, scholarship, and service that transcend school/college boundaries. It will provide a resource base to foster collaboration across the university and to support interdisciplinary activities that promote an innovative, creative, and active, discovery-based learning environment. |
